Free net connection in Helsinki

NextMesh is making Helsinki wireless together with Rovio. The free net connection will be made available for everyone who lives or does business in Helsinki city centre on Helsinki day, 12 June.

WiFi

The WLAN connection can be recognised from its name AngryBirds Wi-Fi. At first the AngryBirds Wi-Fi will work in the areas between Kamppi and Kauppatori, and on Kaivopuisto beach, but its coverage area will soon be expanded.

The expansion of the area can be followed on Facebook starting from next week. The net is funded by advertising and it will create whole new possibilities for advertisers to reach consumers.

“We are very pleased to be involved in bringing Angry Birds to delight the users of NextMesh wireless net. According to our philosophy, the net is easily accessible and very user friendly – just like the Angry Birds games”, said Harri Koponen, the executive vice president of Rovio consumer products.

“NextMesh wants to offer all consumers a free, fast and user friendly connection, free of charge. Now that it is WDC year and the capital is celebrating its 200th birthday, we wanted to do something revolutionary and Angry Birds is a suitable partner for the project”, said Marietta Johansson, the marketing director of NextMesh.
